He was born in 1818 in Leipzig as son of engraver Carl Christian Reinhardt, studied under J.Schnorr v.Carolsfeld at the Leipzig Academy, under Joh.Chr.Dahl in Dresden and under Albert Zimmermann in Munich. In the late 1830s and in 1850s the artist lived in Hamburg. He was also popular as illustrator. His paintings are represented in collections of Kunsthalle Hamburg and other German museums.
