Matched pair of antique oil on canvas portrait paintings dated December 1877 on the reverse, signed “R. Strauss” on the face of the girl’s portrait. Each painting depicts a child — one a boy in a white ruffled shirt with a blue bow tie, the other a girl in a white lace dress with a gold chain necklace and blue hair ribbon — both rendered in oval trompe l’oeil format against a dark teal background.
