Joseph Jodocus Moerenhout (1801-1875) «Cattle in a meadow» oil painting, 1867
He debuted at the Salon of Antwerp in 1822. He then travelled to Holland to study antique animalist painters. In 1824 he left Den Haag for Paris where he went on to study under Horace Vernet. Back in Antwerp in 1828, he exhibited locally and in Amsterdam, followed by further exhibition in Gent in 1829.
