Rare,Large 1936,”Dominant Curve” Signed Vasily Kandinsky.Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.New York PrintVasily Kandinsky (1866-1944)is European Master,was a Russian/French artist born in Moscow,one of his paintings sold forUSD $22,879,000.00 at Sotheby’s Auction Park Ave.N.Y,US.His fascinated with colour symbolism & Psychology,also interested inGeometry,Art & Philosophy,which he expressed by descending series of circles,triangles & squares.He lived the rest of his life in France,became French citizen in 1939.Died 1944 in Neuilly-Sur-Seine Dominant Curve,a schematized pink-toned embryo for instance,floats in the upper right corner of Dominant curve,while the figures contained within the green rectangle in the upper left corner resembles microscopic marine animals.Various actions is imbued with similar organic figures hovering above a celestial blue field.These buoyant,biomorphic images,often presented in pastel hues,may be read as Kandinsky’s optimistic vision of a peaceful future & hope for postwar rebirth & regeneration.
