Henrie was born Paul McKinley Henrie in Tampa, Florida. In works prior to 1961, his signature is «Paul Henrie» or «Blaine». Afterwards, he signed them «Paul Blaine Henrie». Historically, it abutted the original Chinatown, which was later removed to its modern location to make way for Union Station.
