Paintings like this one were produced in great numbers throughout Vietnam in the mid-to-late twentieth century, prized for their flattened, graphic compositions and their use of saturated, almost theatrical color paired with sparse, calligraphic detail.
In the 1984-6 period, he had at least a sale of a work at both Christie’s and Sotheby’s. along with notable dealer representation. Strange, at the blossoming of his career, he simply and quite totally withdrew as he continued painting, unknown why.
