The iconic plant continued production however, even as the local sugar beet acreage dwindled. For years, the Holly Sugar Plant was a local landmark. Pulley notes that the last sugar beets grown in Orange County were harvested in 1973.
Bel Air Fire – November 1961 One of the most destructive urban wildfires in Los Angeles history. The fire started in the Stone Canyon area and spread rapidly downhill. Christine Dailey (1912-1991) studied art in Los Angeles, Chicago, Italy, France & Spain.
