Up for sale is a beautiful, original hand-painted Chinese Peasant Folk Art painting originating from Huxian (Hu County) region of the Shaanxi Province. This vibrant piece depicts a lively, whimsical winter scene of villagers and children participating in a traditional «Lantern Dance» (舞灯) celebration amidst a snowy blue landscape.
Vintage The Shelter House 22″H x 28″ Painting Framed Signed P.A. Winzer 1971. Good used vintage condition. Paining di=oes have some age/use display wear – A small area of separation from the frame on bottom right-hand corner shown in picture 6 & one of the eye hooks that fastens the wire on back came loose during listing. I believe this is an oil on canvas. Painting is titled «The 1734 Shelter House 1741» on middle bottom & has been signed P.A. Winzer in bottom right hand corner. Features an old rustic cabin type building. Vintage gold painted wooden gilt frame. Back has 1971 Shelter House Painted By Paul A. Winzer on the back. Back has some age and display wear. Measures approx. 22″H x 28″L x 2 1/4″W. Comes as seen in the pictures.
The second shows a single bird on a cherry branch in a rectangular pot. Shows two birds on a rose bush in a round planter pot.
Durieux took a job as director of the Federal Art Project (FAP) of the Works Progress Administration in February 1939. In 2010, a retrospective, «Caroline Durieux: A Radioactive Wit», was exhibited at the LSU Museum of Art.
