Vintage ORIGINAL Coastal Beach Palms Large Tropical Tray Board Painting SIGNED

This vibrant colorful seascape is unusually framed by a wicker/cane type of basket that can be hung on the wall or actually used as a tray. The painting features groups of palm trees on the shore in the sand dunes with crashing ocean waves and an azure sky in the background. The medium is oil on board and it is signed «Jo (can’t work out the middle name) Dougherty» and I believe it is dated 2000 [00]. There is limited information available on the artist, but the piece was done by an artist who resides in Florida. The coastal scene is beautifully executed in shades of lime green, forest green, turquoise, cerulean blue, sky blue, baby blue, ivory and white. The seashore landscape was painted directly on the wood board and the wood grain texture is visible with close inspection of the painting – it gives the piece a nice texture. The curvy lines you see in one of the photographs is actually a deep wood grain. I have it hanging in my office and it is cheery, bright and vibrant – a very happy piece of artwork. It’s also a pretty large tray. It is about 25 inches long, 16 inches wide, and approximately 2.5 inches deep (basket/frame depth), lightweight and very easy to hang with the bracket. The hanging bracket can be removed if desired. Of note; if it is to be used as a tray – which I have not done – at least one clear protective coat of some type of sealer/preservative should be used to prevent damage to the painting. The (board) picture itself is in good condition, with minimal wear and no significant stains, scratches, or holes. The wicker basket / frame has a few broken straws here and there, but it does not affect the beauty or quality of the painting and is not very noticeable. There are a few round spots on the painting that look like they may have originally been spots for nails or screws (see photos). The wood backing of the picture looks like it may have been wet at some point, but there is no water stain or damage on the front to the picture itself (see photos) . The picture is very firmly and securely mounted in the basket and the hanging bracket is secure and sturdy. Please see photos for more details. This painting is much more striking in person that the photographs convey.
