Handsome boy from a well to do family. (name of sitter in lower right is Robert Belson at the age of 5 as shown) Old relining. Housed in a federal period 200 year old gold decorated frame showing old touchup and minor repairs throughout. Surface of canvas appears to be very good with some flaking in lower right under the inscribed writing. also some minor flaking around edeges. The painting is unsigned, but obviously by an accomplished hand. The little dog just adds to the overall charm to this image.
