Frances Maier American Impressionist 1921 – May 30th 2022 Inspired by European Impressionist painters, Fran is a ladder day Grandma Moses Monet. Grandma Moses the American folk artist did her best work in her 80s and 90s. This collection by Fran Maier was painted in her 80s and 90s having evolved from a lifetime of creative endeavors. Widely recognized for her exceptional talent, Fran was called upon during the filming of Cecil B. DeMille’s classic «The Ten Commandments» to create over 100 collar necklaces for the Egyptians in the movie. She created the one Yul Brenner wore. Her passion for the arts led her to open The Gold Key Gallery, on Fifth Avenue, in Scottsdale Arizona in the early 1960s before the Western art boom. After a long run with her gallery, the love of Hawaii inspired her to sell her business and move to the islands. After settling in Hawaii she became the Chairman of the Honolulu Hale and spearheaded the Aloha Shows for the Association of Honolulu artists. She was also a respected Certified Fine Art Appraiser. She worked with the Arts Council of Hawaii and had articles published in Southwest Art Magazine. Her understanding of the multifaceted art world provided a unique foundation for this creative artist. Through her varied experiences and unwavering passion for beauty her painting evolved. Her dynamic sense of color and sophisticated composition puts her in the company of the finest American Impressionists. Her work is in prestigious collections around the world. Her last show was in April 2020 at Luxury Row in Waikiki.
