Patrick Murciano is known for Painting.In his New Pop style his art is an explosion of primary energy coming from the Light (white backgrounds) and Chaos (black backgrounds) with dripping and colors, enhanced with what he calls “gribouillisme”: a very rapid gesture resembling a massive signature.Patrice Murciano started painting his first muses using his mother’s make-up sets. VERY NICE – Leon La Fourcade Oil On Canvas (29″ x 24″) – With Original Frame

Up for sale is a GREAT – ORIGINAL – LARGE Oil On Canvas by Leon La Fourcade (1898-1978). It is signed by the artist on the bottom left. There is no date, but painting looks earlier than WWII. It comes with its original frame, which is etched with the name and address of the artist on the back. The painting is no longer connected to the frame. The frame is old and has heavy wear, chips, breaks, and pieces missing. The frame measures approximately 35″ x 29″. The actual painting is approximately 29″ x 24″. There is a small pinhole in the piece, otherwise, it is in Good Condition. However, there is age and dust build-up. This is a VERY COLLECTIBLE and BEAUTIFUL piece. An etcher, muralist and painter, Katharine Forbes was born on February 3, 1891 in San Francisco into a pioneer California family. She studied at the California School of Fine Art under Frank Van Sloun where she was awarded a lifetime scholarship in 1914. While traveling in Europe for many years, she furthered her art training in Munich under Hermann Groeber and in Paris under André Lhote. After returning to California in 1924, she studied with Armin Hansen in Carmel. During the 1930s she taught at UC Berkeley, was a resident of Palo Alto, and at one time lived in Death Valley in a deserted inn. Forbes died in San Francisco on May 27, 1945. Painting in oil, watercolor, and tempera, her subjects included landscapes of Mexico and the Sierra, stark desert scenes of Death Valley as well as still lifes and portraits.
