Antique 19th Century American School New England Fall River Landscape, Framed. Fall New England riverscape with turning leaves. Housed in an intricate five layer period frame. The painting has been completely restored including wax adhesion to the original stretchers, professionally relined, archival acrylic backing to prevent punctures to canvas, and cleaning of the original canvas. Orginal 19th century Frost and Adams tag is encased in a protective cover en verso. In good condition with wear consistent with age. Craquelure is present on the canvas. Size: 19.38 x 15.25 in

This antique oil painting dates to around 1870-90 and based on the stretcher and overall technique it’s almost certainly American. The picture has a fast hand with free but confident brushwork suggesting it may be a plein air. Lovely overall composition and color and condition is very good with some wear and faint stretcher marks as shown in pictures. Frame has expected wear. Measures 13” x 15” to ends of frame.
