Alberto Vela was encouraged by a magazine publisher who was impressed by the vigor of his work to continue his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts. The artist took his advice and a year later at the age of 20 was working for the publisher as an illustrator for the magazine La Lydia.
He was born in Kharkiv region. He has graduated from Kyiv Institute of Art(1953). He was a student of S. Grigorev, V.Kostetski. He is a professor, 1964-1982 he taught at the Kyiv Art Institute. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
