ARCH OF TITUS, ROME BELA SZIKLAY SIGNED HAND-COLORED ETCHING HUNGARIAN ARTIST

ARCH OF TITUS, ROME BELA SZIKLAY SIGNED HAND-COLORED ETCHING HUNGARIAN ARTIST “Arch of Titus, Rome» by Hungarian artist Bela Sziklay (1911-1981) is an original hand-colored etching circa 1950. Excellent vintage condition, highly suitable for framing. Sziklay’s super cool signature and title in pencil is on the windowed folio below the mounted colored plate. The etching is 9 by 11 inches tall and the folio is 11.5 by 17.5 inches wide. See photos. Back of etching is lightly tanned due to age of paper but my photo of the back looks much darker than it is because of shadows due to intact mounting. The Arch of Titus is a 1st-century AD honorific arch on the Via Sacra, Rome, southeast of the Roman Forum. It was built in c. 81 AD by the Emperor Domitian shortly after the death of his older brother Titus. It commemorates Titus's official deification and his victory, together with their father, Vespasian, over the Jewish rebellion in Judaea. Shipped via USPS Ground Advantage Ephemera long bin
