This beautiful Persian hand-painted painting features a stunning landscape and a hunting scene as well as traditional Persian plants. The piece is housed in a gorgeous Khatam frame made of bone and wood marquetry. The painting is small in size, measuring 7 3/4 inches in height and 2 inches in width, making it perfect for displaying in a variety of spaces. Created sometime between the 1950s and 1970s by an unknown artist, this original painting has been beautifully preserved and is in excellent condition. The colors are vibrant, and the painting surface appears to be watercolor on bone. I purchased two of these lovely pieces of artwork from a woman who said they were Persian, hand painted on camel bone, and she had purchased them when she was young and lived overseas. In researching the artwork, I found some similar pieces. The descriptions state they are from Persia, hand painted Surat gari camel bone, watercolor paintings. and the frames were handmade Khatam marquetry. From Wikipedia – Khatam is an ancient Persian technique of inlaying. It is a version of marquetry where art forms are made by decorating the surface of wooden articles with delicate pieces of wood, bone, and metal precisely cut intricated geometric patterns. I have included several photos of the details in the frame, both from the front and the marquetry inlay on the out edge of the frame. Photos 4 & 5 show a closeup on the rich details in the painting. This artwork has been very well cared for with one owner and is in great condition. I believe photos 18, 19, 20 show the initials of the Artist as there are no other bushes like this on the painting, and some of the other artwork I came across during research stated the Artwork is signed.
