Fine 19th C American Impressionist Oil Painting Landscape Blakelock Wyant School

Antique oil on canvas. Heavy impasto with layered, scraped, and worked paint surface characteristic of the American Impressionist landscape tradition — stylistically consistent with the circle of Inness, Blakelock, Wyant, or Homer Dodge Martin, c. 1875–1900. The palette is coloristic — ochre and gold foliage accents, greens, and warm sky breaks give this work a vitality and freshness that sets it apart from the more somber Tonalist tradition. Age cracking is consistent with a painting of this period and adds to its authenticity. The paint handling is sophisticated and confident — this is the work of a trained or highly accomplished hand. Appears to have been cleaned and varnished at some point, presenting well. No frame. A powerful, atmospheric piece of substantial artistic merit.
