His work is always featured at Nova Galleries and Eduardo Padron Art in Coral Gables, Florida. He currently lives in San Jose, Costa Rica. A bit about the subject matter: Alledgedly, Papa Montero was a dapper black man with cotton-like head. His teeth were impeccably white, Panama hat, guayabera shirt, and pleated jeans, and shiny double color shoes. But he was a shameless old womanizing man from Isabela de Sagua, who loved to drink, party and roam the streets. Because of his girth and his age, he was called Papa, but his real name was Luis Felipe Montero. He competed against another partying dance lover at a carnivale: Jose Rosario Oviedo, aka Malanga. This man was the best dancer of Rumba Columbia. Papa was stabbed to death ar the carnival but he died smiling. As he was in life, his funeral became a party for drums trumpets, guitars, and singers. As the funeral was winding down, as the story goes, his widow, shouted out Papa you bastard dancer (Papa Montero canalla zumbero) to wit the group remaining repeated the phrase over and over eventully becoming more lively adding music and rythm giving evidence to the Cuban humor even in saddest of situations even in death. His half brother was the famous Cuban composer Eliseo Grenet who in 1924 wrote a very famous song about him after what took place as the funeral was ending. Señores, los familiares del cadáver me han confiado para que despida el duelo del que en vida fue Papá Montero. refrain where all sing… A llorar a Papá Montero, ¡zumba, canalla rumbero! Que el guateque ya está en cielo, ¡zumba, canalla rumbero! Que era un viejo muy zalamero, ¡zumba, canalla rumbero! Condition: very good. Minor if any surface scratches to the frame.
