EXHIBITED Abstract PAINTING MTV Bridezillas CA & NYC Female ARTIST ~ LIZ BLAZER!

Item: Mixed media on heavy paper by Award winning artist Liz Blazer ca. 1992, exhibited at the Sande Webster Gallery in Philadelphia (see pictures for labels verso). Framed, matted and under plexi. Please see my other listings for two (2) more mixed media works by Blazer, all fresh from a local Philadelphia estate. Blazer has a website, so if you look at her fine art works there, you’ll see the second piece down from the top has a very similar feel to this example. She’s also a very accomplished animator having done a lot of work for MTV, Disney, Sesame Street, Women’s Entertainment Network, etc. Blazer is an in-demand Professor (and author), currently teaching at Pratt Institute (in New York City), Montclair State University and Saddle River Day School. What I love about this mixed media offered for sale here is that while it has a high end contemporary look, it also feels like 60’s Mid-century Modern art – abstract, inventive yet somehow very clean feeling despite the earth tones and splotches in the work. This piece has no condition problems, will ship safely since there’s no glass (it’s under plexiglass), and is ready to display on your wall. The original price on this work (25 years ago) was 400 USD, which is likely low because that was Philadelphia prices and not NYC numbers. Considering the demand for quality works by female artists today, I feel that this work by Blazer will be a great investment for the buyer. Her daring and inventive style is right in line with the best of contemporary artists such as Richard Aldrich and Hugo McCloud. PLEASE SEE MY EBAY STORE FOR A NICE SELECTION OF ART, ANTIQUES & COLLECTIBLES. Background: Liz Blazer earned her Bachelor’s in Fine Art from Skidmore College in New York. She earned her MFA from USC – the University of Southern California. Within the past few years she’s moved back to the East Coast but much of her resume is Los Angeles, California related. The work offered for sale here is an early, prime example, done just around the time she was finishing up her studies at Skidmore. Once in California, Blazer taught at the University of Southern CA and also at the California Institute of the Arts. She used her artistic talents in the film / entertainment biz doing work for MTV – animation for Celebrity Deathmatch. Also, she worked as a Development Artist for Disney and their Locker Genie production. Blazer was Director of 9 short promo animated episodes of Bridezillas for the WE or Women’s Entertainment Network. She was Art Director for Sesame Street in Tel Aviv, Israel. Probably her biggest success to date was Backseat Bingo, an animated documentary Indie film which she animated, produced and directed. It won 25 awards including the HBO Comedy Arts Festival award. The film deals with the subject of sex between older people, which is kind of cool. I think it takes a very self realized artist to bring it all together in a true mixed media way, thinking micro and macro at the same time. Not everybody can do that, and even those that can aren’t always so successful like Liz Blazer has been in her endeavors. The nice thing is, Blazer is still young so I can’t wait to see what she does next!
