Lucille Ryan Connecticut Artist RISD Asian Lady Pastel Portrait Painting

A really beautiful Lucille Ryan (Ct/ RI, USA 1935-2021) was a Connecticut-based artist and designer. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, she studied art at Rhode Island College and the Rhode Island School of Design. She worked as a commercial fashion jewelry designer for The Napier Company and C. Ray Randall in Connecticut. She frequently sold her artwork, including paintings of scenic landscapes and maritime subjects. She was an active member of the Mount Laurel Ski Club in Connecticut, where she applied her design and restoration skills to the interior aesthetics of the club’s mountain lodge.

1923 Art Deco Lovely Lady Portrait Pastel Painting – Illegibly Signed

The painting is a pastel on paper and is signed lower right illegibly and dated 1923. The pastel is very well done. It is displayed in a simple gilt wood molding frame with tan colored mat with hand painted line decoration and is protected behind glass. A beautiful portrait of a lovely Art Deco flapper period woman. Measures; sight size 13 1/2″ x 10 1/2″, framed 21 1/4″ x 18 1/4″ .
