Listed French/Iraqi-Kurd Contemporary Artist Mahmud Cawian a/k/a Cawian Signed and Dated, on lower right, this Incredible Impressionistic, Fauvist (emphasizing painterly qualities and strong color) Parisian Figural. It is an Original Acrylic on paper. The paper appears to be of a GigaStore sales poster. GigaStore seems to France’s Walmart with Ikea’s blue/gold color scheme. Heavily worked Figural has traditional Impressionistic elements contrasting a Modern Expressionism. Cawian is no stranger to a Deep, Rich, Eye-catching color palette. Almost Cobalt Blue anchors the piece with primary colors throughout. Fascinating work of art in a Museum quality framing presentation. We start with a Larson-Juhl moulding, Dark Green/Teal with Antiqued Gold Leaf finish and a beveled gold inner lip. It also has a 3 1/2″ Wide Off-White duplex mat with a matching beveled gold inner lip.3″ Wide Dark Green/Teal & Antiqued Gold stepped/angled Reverse moulding, White mat w/ Gold bevel and glass are included complimentary in this listing.Image opening measures 16 X 23 and is in Very Good to Excellent condition. The paper has a fold through the middle but that attests to it being an actual sales placard from the store.Outside measure of the frame is 30 X 37 and is in Very Good condition w/ a few minor nicks (hardly noticeable).Please carefully examine all images for condition.Apologies for glare or reflection in images due to photographing under glass. *Mahmud Cawian (1951 – ) Cawian is a French artist of Iraqi Kurdish origin. He studied at the Art School in Baghdad as well as at Beaux-Arts in Paris. His paintings reflect many and diverse characters of life and the difficulties of living together. A colorist, his colors are bright with some bordering on the vivid while at the same time maintaining an element of subtlety. His preferred surfaces are paper, newspaper and canvas. His first influences were the early sources of Mesopotamian culture, developing through the great Occidental art currents of the 19th and 20th centuries and includes Impressionism, Fauvism, Cubism and Expressionism.His aesthetic though was born from diverse influences and resists any real classification, constantly overflowing.Cawian’s art expresses a precious link between the Orient and the Occident.
