Nelida Lopez studied at the Juan J. F. Piña School Workshop of Plastic Arts in Holguín, from 1962 to 1966, and at the National School of Art (ENA) in Havana, from 1966 to 1968. She stood out as a founding member of the Cuban Photorealism movement. She worked in the Experimental Workshop of the Cathedral Square, the Rene Portocarrero Serigraphy Workshop, in Havana, and in the Fuera de Serie Serigraphy Workshop and the Fusion Grafica Serigraphy and Lithography Workshop, in Madrid. Her works are found in private collections in Holland, the United States, Mexico, Canada, Sweden, Spain, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, and Venezuela, among others. She has won numerous awards for her work, such as the First Drawing Prize, National Salon of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana (1974), and the Special Prize, I Jaume Guash Painting Biennial, Barcelona (1987). Cursó estudios en la Escuela Taller de Artes Plásticas Juan J. F. Piña en Holguín, 1962-1966, y en la ENA (Escuela Nacional de Arte) de La Habana, 1966-68. Se destacó como miembro fundador del movimiento Fotorrealista Cubano. Trabajó en el Taller experimental de la Plaza de la Catedral, en el Taller de Serigrafía René Portocarrero, en La Habana , en el Taller de Serigrafía Fuera de Serie y el Taller de Serigrafía y Litografía Fusión Gráfica, en Madrid. Sus obras se encuentran en colecciones privadas en Holanda, Estados Unidos, México, Canadá, Suecia, España, Jamaica, Sri Lanka y Venezuela, entre otros. Ha obtenido numerosos premios por su obra como; Primer Premio de Dibujo, Salón Nacional de las FAR. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, La Habana (1974 ), Premio especial, I Bienal de Pintura Jaume Guash, Barcelona,(1987). Son reconocidas sus series de abstracciones.
