Hand Painted Porcelain Portrait Plaque of Ruth the Gleaner in Frame 19th century
An absolutely beautiful work, this 19th century hand-painted oval plaque has a convex form and features a hand-painted image of Ruth the Gleaner after the original by French painter Charles Landelle (1821-1908). The plaque itself measures 3.5″ by 2.75″ and bears an impressed mark in a circle. The piece has been housed within an ornate carved and gilded frame, 10″ x 8″. Repairs were made at some point to the top, as pictured. There are 2 shallow cracks in the front oval of the frame, as shown.
