Reyes», Giclee Print from Original Oil by artist, Elena Ballock size 12×16,In the winter of 2012, California artist, Elena Ballock, painted this remarkable seascape near the Point Reyes Boat House. Point Reyes National Seashore is an amazing destination on the Pacific coast of northern California, thirty miles north of San Francisco. Sir Francis Drake hauled his ship, the Golden Hinde, onto the beach for mast repairs here in June 1579. With her unique contemporary impressionist style, well known artist Elena Ballock, paints the massive rocky cliff using a striking array of colors, hues, shadows, structure, and light. The ocean and sky meet at the distant shore displaying her masterful use of depth and perspective. In the small cove of the rock cliffs, view how delicately Elena paints the shadows and seaweed on the surface of the water. Elena Ballock, San Francisco Bay artist, has become one of the most foremost painters in the United States today. This emerging and sought after artist creates landscape, seascape, and urban setting paintings using her beautiful and skillful range of color, light, shade, texture, and perspective. Educated at Cal State Hayward, Elena Ballock conveys her masterful use of color and light in all of her varying settings. Her landscapes are alive with brilliant skies, fields, foliage, streams, mountains, and forest views. Elena’s seascapes are painted in her wonderful and unique style with shimmering water, cliffs, beaches and long distant perspective. View how fantastic she paints the rocks and cliffs along her seascape coast lines. This great artist displays her depth of talent by bringing new meaning to an everyday urban scene. The beauty and emotions she conveys in capturing a row of dwellings, a distant city skyline, or a hilly Bay Area neighborhood is a study in shade, light, color, movement, and perspective. Through her accomplished use of oils, the interaction between the city street, sidewalk, shrubbery, buildings, and sky is painted wonderfully in her refreshing impressionistic style. The name, Impressionism, derives from the title of a Claude Monet art piece, Impression, Sunrise. In a satirical review published in the Parisian newspaper Le Charivariwhich, the French critic Louis Leroy used the term Impressionism to describe the Monet artwork. “People have stated that my work is natural and intuitive, I like to think of it as contemporary impressionism. Art is like having a connection to the world in your home.” Elena explains. Elena says, “I believe that art is one of the most basic forms of communication and expression, which delights the eyes and speaks to the soul. I think that people connect internally in new ways with our simple yet complex world through my art. This connection can be of the bold yet splendid rawness of the mountains or contrast with the velvet smoothness of flower petals. The emotional impact that I relate through my paintings can be wildly dramatic or calm and placid.” Elena Bullocks’ striking paintings allow viewers to come away with a new sense of emotion and intrigue. “My art is as simple as a visual image striking the eye, yet it becomes more when it touches the soul. In that moment my artwork becomes s connection between people. I would like people to view my artwork with a sense of intrigue that sparks an emotional response.” Elena Ballock has sold many of her paintings to collectors throughout the United States and has been featured in galleries and museums around the country.
