WILLIE WHITE FOLK ART PAINTING ON PAPER #9 This on of his more abstract outsider creations painting is a folk art piece by Willie White , New Orlean’s FOLK ARTIST- IT WAS PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTIST IN THE 1990’S. I visited his home in New Orleans a numerous times and bought a large colection his drawings over the years. TITLE: 4 Red Suns #2751 SIZE: 20″ x 24″ MARKER ON POSTER BOARD Willie White’s WORK HAS BEEN SHOWN IN NEW YORK AND ALL OVER THE COUNTRY Willie White was born in 1910 in Natchez, Louisiana, but traveled to New Orleans in 1929 .Shortly after he began waiting tables, a profession he held for almost 20 years. He became interested in painting and soon his subjects became fantastic prehistoric birds, alligators, dragons and flying horses. His creatures began appearing in intricate geometric patterns, and his compositions became filled with bright marker color, a medium which he began to work exclusively in after the late 1960’s. Willie White passed away on Dec. 26, 2000. Still, his good natured gentleness continues to live in the rich body of work that is represented in galleries from New York to Paris.
