Touchard was born in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands in 1907 where he attended the Academy, and later worked in the graphic arts.

From childhood, Logan wanted to be an artist, and he took his first lessons from a Miss Clara Cuff. A family friend paid for the lessons because Logan’s father disapproved of his son’s art interests.
