The Catch (2024) – – -Acrylic and ink on canvas- – -11.00w x 14.00h x 0.75 inches- – – **(shown framed for illustration purposes; piece is unframed)________________________________________________ The ‘Iconic Photo’ Series is an exploration of renowned imagery through the lens of what I call “Messy Expressionism.” Selecting pivotal moments captured in photography, I aim to deconstruct and reconstruct these familiar visuals, imbuing them with raw emotion and personal interpretation.Through an interplay of color, texture, and form, I challenge the perfection of the original photograph, inviting viewers to engage with the underlying narrative on a visceral level. My intention is to disrupt the static nature of the image, allowing it to pulsate with energy and ambiguity.Embracing the messy and imperfect, I create a dialogue between the iconic and the ephemeral, the here and the gone, inviting the viewer to discover new meaning within the familiar frame. *Original photo reference: Walter Iooss Jr.- – -From Sports Illustrated, 100 Greatest Sports Photos of All Time:NFC Championship Game, Jan. 10, 1982 | Known simply as «The Catch,» the reception by San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Dwight Clark resulted in a six-yard touchdown pass from Joe Montana to give the 49ers a 28-27 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The victory would propel the 49ers to the Super Bowl, where they defeated the Bengals. ________________________________________________ Signed: Yes – initials on front and full signature on back Hanging hardware attached: No Framed: No Certificate of Authenticity (COA) provided: Yes ______________________ Lots of art has an agenda, a planned place it’s taking you. The Sun ate The Moon (and there was just light left)(2023) – – -Watercolor on particle board w/ veneer back13.75w x 12.40h x 0.20 inches________________________________________________ Between the Trees Series… A horrible, sickly bright light that slowly but surely devoured it all, leaving creatures of dust and moths of spirit, alligators of despair and screaming. It wasn’t all bad though; it was just between THESE trees. There are others, you know. Moths turned into arms turned into scars on trees.Clouds turned into birds turned into strange ecstasies. Roots grow longernot stronger;the soil loosens to let them in. Under all this is the strange severe sense that the goings on between the treesare like a play with no author,a show that never stops, games playedbattles wonand lostand everything in between.
