Gennaro Cuocolo is an Italian artist born in Naples in 1916. After a first academic approach to the free nude school in Naples, he began to work alone with tireless tenacity, following his instincts, away from schools and currents. His strange thirst for experiences drives him to travel a lot: Milan, France, Spain and Switzerland. These places inspired his painting which, starting from reality and Neapolitan tradition, followed a long way that took him away from this realistic exit, one could almost say on the opposite side, towards the limits of the informal. His pictorial history has been marked by the continuous search for his own operational sphere and expressive language that has led Cuocolo to address subjects that generally make no sense.
