George A. Bush Original Oil Painting Art «FOLLIES OF THE KING» Jean Plaidy 1982

PLEASE NOTE : I have a photo posted showing the book cover. The book cover is not included in this sale. This sale is for the original painting used for the book cover. Up for Buy it Now or Best Offer is an original book cover artwork painted by my late brother George A Bush in 1982. «FOLLIES OF THE KING» by Jean Plaidy. I could not find a photo to post here of the book cover and I am also not sure who the publisher was. A lot of these classic romance novels are now out as audio books and those always seem to be the ones that come up first in a search and interfere in finding the paperback book cover. This is painted on masonite board that measures 23-1/4 tall by 15-3/4 inches wide. Painted long before computer generated art that is so common on book covers these days. That form of art started being used in the late 1990's by many publishing company's as it cost them quite a bit less that hiring a talented oil painting artist. Down below in this ad is a list of my Brothers lifetime accomplishments. It's a long one thats for sure. George was well known in the art industry throughout his career spanning from the late 1970's to the late 1990's. There were not a lot of his works sold publicly till now, after his unfortunate passing. Prices on his paintings that did sell to the public through places like Heritage Auctions, eBay and some private galleries, ranged from $750 to $10,000.00 and that was years ago. You can find out more about George by doing a search for George A. Bush or George Arthur Bush Artist / ILLUSTRATOR. Unfortunately with a name like his, web searches keep popping up things related to the former president George W. Bush. Even though the middle name is different, you still have to search past the former president items. Below in this listing is more information about my late Brother George. A disease that affects different people in different ways. For George the first sings of something being wrong started with his eyesight. Of all things to be affected first, for him as a professional artist on the top of his career, he told me that he was having spells where his vision started jumping / twitching as he described it. That was in 1995 and ever so slightly it got worse as time went on. He kept on with his artwork till his vision got to the point where it took him months to complete just 1 painting. That was around 1998. His wife was a really good artist so she continued a bit doing paintings for paperback book covers. It was a joint effort as George with several different reading glasses taped together would do some of the higher detailed areas on her paintings like the faces and hands. Slowly George started losing his balance and the strength in his legs, then his arms, It was so hard to see such a talented Brother just fade away. So sad. 😞 A List of my Brother George’s lifetime accomplishments as an Artist, illustrator and sculpture. PAINTING CREDITS AND COVER ILLUSTRATIONS Clients: . Ballantine Books/Random House .
