US Dept State recognized artist: E. Merced foothills Cunningham Rd S. of Hwy 140

East Merced Foothills out Cunningham Rd South of Hwy 140 framed as shown image size: 7″ [18cm] x 9″ [23cm] In 2019 I was awarded International Recognition by the US Department of State, Art to Embassies for works that are recognized and collected for placement into US Consul residences overseas. I have been painting for 70yrs and have multiple works that have gained interest and recognition by various organizations such as USD State. This piece is an adventure out Cunningham Road off the state Hwy 140 east of Merced. It’s on the way to Cathey’s Valley and of course Yosemite National Park. This Summer has been a heat wave across the entire Pacific NW and CA is no exception. I get out early prior to the heat and of course the light is what I’m after. Early morning light is always interesting in the shadows and reflections happening on a prairie. The morning was quite pleasant with only the sound of a few cows who were making haste toward a water trough near by and some occasional belching and splashing of the irrigation system not far from the edge of the road. The birds were doing their thing with chirps here and there and the slight drone of the highway off in the distance. Do you recall how sound travels early in the morning on a grassy plain? I paint from an academic background as a fine artist with multiple degrees (vitae available upon request) not that it means much but to me the work speaks for itself. I find a spot and set up the easel and get lost for hours in my work. It becomes a much needed moment of not just solitude but a work more than worth acting out for sake of a mental puzzle. Art is like that: what do you find in it? Did you acquire that work for your enjoyment and mental contemplation or did you buy that Picasso print (of which there are 10’s of thousands the same) to impress your guest? I carefully seal the work when sufficiently dry with a damar varnish and use only the best quality wood gilded plein aire style frames. The work arrives ready to hang with a certificate of authenticity and signature dated. I’ll include a copy of the pages of the USD State booklet shown above in photos for your records. Allow at least 2-3 weeks (for the frame has to be ordered at the time of purchase by me) so as to be completed and ready to ship.
