Hilda Kaihlanen, born in 1919, began painting her primitive folk art in her forties. Daughter of a Finnish immigrant stonecutter, raised in the picturesque Lanesville section of Gloucester, Massachusetts; Hilda paints bright, colorful local scenes which radiate happy and nostalgic feelings.
