Shirley Pettibone (1936 – 2011) was born in Bakersfield, California. She earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles in 1962. Arthur R. Herrick Sr. was born in 1897 in Arlington, Massachusetts. Mr. Herrick graduated from the New England School of Design in Boston (now the Vesper George School) and worked as a freelance illustrator but his real passion was painting New England landscapes.
