An oil painting on stretched canvas, depicting a city street scene. Painting measures 12” x 16” on stretched canvas. On the back is another painted sketch of a woman. Unsigned and undated. Painting has a few patches on the back, but you can’t see the repairs from the front; evidently professionally restored, and presumably with spots of inpainting. There exists another painting of this scene by an artist from Argentina, José Martino; but this is probably done by another artist. Probably a street in San Telmo, Buenos Aires’ oldest and most historic neighborhood, known for its well-preserved colonial architecture, bohemian atmosphere, and as the birthplace of tango.
